Adventures in homeownership

So today has been an eventful day, but not as much as I'd hoped. It started off with a literal BANG with Justin taking a header down a flight of stairs on the way to work this morning. Busted open his finger, banged up his already aching body. Plus 6:30 am foolishness to contend with on the work blackberry... Joy.

We had the exterminator come by the house and signed up for an initial blast + 4 season treatments. We figured it would be worth it since (a) our house backs up to the woods (and all the unsavory beasties and critters there) and (b) it's been abandoned for quite a few months now (plenty of time for breeding).

Our next plan for today was to go get a jump start on getting rid of the smurfy blue by priming, painting, etc. but I ended up doing a full day's work at home, keeping me tied to my PC. And the handyman is finally coming to fix the porch light at our townhouse - but he's due right smack dab in the middle of the afternoon. So I guess no painting for us! :o/

You win some, you lose some...

On the other plus side, I've finally made up my mind what color we're using for the kitchen, master bedroom and upstairs bath. I don't have the paint swatch names on me, but they're going to be a cheery yellow, soft green and soft purple (in their respective rooms). The two great rooms, however, continue to give me heartburn.

Who knows what this long holiday week will bring?! :)
