We are now Kitty Parents! :) We went to the rescue lady's house and after about half an hour, we knew which kitty we were going to take home. Sadly, it was neither Figaro nor Sylvester - they were both incredibly standoffish (no offense taken, we were just strangers) and neither one wanted to come any where near us to try to gauge their personalities. However, as we were chatting with the lady, this little black cat was investigating my purse and Justin's jacket, circling us, checking us out.
We turned our attention to this little girl who seemed to curious. Karen told us she was named Oreo, and she was a sweet little 7 month old kitten. She said she loves to climb on your back and your legs and to play. As we chatted about everything, Oreo became bolder, and allowed us to pick her up for a snuggle.
But the deal was truly sealed when she came up to us (we were sitting indian-style on the floor) and started playing with our shoelaces! She was just having a blast! We just looked at each other and GRINNED - we had found the one we wanted to take home.
So we filled out the paperwork and bundled Oreo into the carrier to take home. We get home and proceed to fix up "her suite" real nice, but when we opened up the carrier... nada. Poor little girl was cowering in the furthest corner of the carrier. We tried to entice her out with food and toys, but as all literature has recommended we let her get acclimated at her own pace, soon decided to just retire for a bit and check on her later.
So. An uneventful first night, but I'm sure things will be fine soon. And you know what that means!!!!!!!!!!!! PICTURES TO COME! :) (We briefly considered taking a photo of her in the kennel but decided we'd done enough damage for one night.)
