Blood, Sweat and Tears

Or in this case, burn, curse and scar. You know how everyone puts a little piece of themselves into their art/craft/design? Well apparently I didn't know that wasn't supposed to be a LITERAL thing. I was baking this weekend (yummy pumpkin bread for the office) when I got a wee bit too close to the oven rack and OWWWWWWW! I now have a nice, angry red burn mark on my forearm, about 3" long. :o(

So I'm digging this new blog site, but miss the MySpace smilies.

What else happened this weekend? Not a whole heap of much. Studying for accounting (whoo. hoo.), actually getting OUT of the house after all that rain. Thank GOD for fall temps finally arriving! Watched the Bourne Identity (yeah, yeah, we'd never seen it before, sosume.) Shopping... Justin made the mistake of turning me loose on Bath and Body Works... (I tried to warn him!) And them it was jack-o-lantern time!

Did you know it takes two pumpkins to make a jack-o-lantern? Well in OUR house it does. (Eye roll). The first pumpkin we bought was tall and skinny. When I cut off the top, I realized that it was too narrow - not only could we not get the candle inside, but neither of us could get our hands in there to scrape it out! So, one emergency run to Safeway later, we had ourselves a nice, large pumpkin, perfect for carving. Justin voted for scary, but I wanted classic and cute. You can see who won out in my profile here. :o)

You know, as much fun as the finished product out, carving pumpkins is a LOT of hard work, and just plain NASTY. We were scooping out the innards, up to my ELBOWS in seeds and guts and GOD knows what other goop, praying I wouldn't yak all over the table. Next time, I think we'll just skip it all ;)
