Last night we had a blast! We began our anniversary like all good DC-ites... pomegranate margaritas at Rosa Mexicana. Then we walked over to get our tickets to Scott Bakula, and made our 5:30 Jaleo reservations. Jaleo = good, but not as good as Amada in Philly. We had fun anyway. The photo below was taken by our kind (and awesome) waiter, Will. As you can see from my tell-tale red face, I was the one who ended up drinking the majority of our pitcher of sangria!
After dinner we headed over to the Shakespeare theater where we saw Scott baby. (Hush Justin.) We were one of the lucky ones to get a program before they sold out, so we sat in out seats (very back of the theater) and got ready. We had decent seats - no obstruction, but we turned out to be juuuuuuust far away that it challenged my (sadly poor) vision and had to squint to clearly see him. Ahhhh, suffering for the arts! ;)
The show itself was a lot of fun. It was equal parts funny, goofy, beautiful and HOT! :) He def. looks older than his Quantum Leap days, but hey, the man's 54. (A fact that caused me some discomfort as I realized that I'm lusting after a man my dad's age. Oh well!) The first act he sang more contemporary tunes, dressed in a teeshirt and black pants. I was psyched to hear him sing "Man of La Mancha", and then almost brought to tears with "Imagine". My face LITERALLY hurt from grinning so big for the entire first act.
After intermission, he had changed into full tux (wolf whistle!) and did a bunch more full-fledged Broadway tunes. Sadly we're unversed in the way of Broadway musicals, so we didn't recognize any of them. But it was great to just be able to sit back and watch him perform - singing, dancing, acting with the people and props on stage.
It was a beautiful evening. (Even if I couldn't get his autograph - and you know we asked!)
