Today the boss is away, so I'm feeling pretty slack-@ss. And - d'oh! I just realized Edyta - the only other person who will be here today - is at an all-morning event! So glad I didn't wait for Starbucks for her!
Sigh...
I have to stop reading the stories about Heath Ledger. It is sad and tragic in it's timeliness, but really. Do we need minute-by-minute updates on the fact that NOTHING new has happened??
And don't even get me started on today's lack of respect for the deceased. I couldn't believe my eyes when one news channel showed the body bag being carried out of the building. OK, ok, I believe you, he's dead, you don't need to show me his corpse!
And then I see this today in WaPo's Style Section online:
Which cable-news yakker might want to consider a new line of work?
Fox News's John Gibson, who opened his Tuesday evening radio show with the famous "Brokeback" quote ("I wish I knew how to quit you"), then jibed, "Ehhh, well, he found out how to quit you!" Gibson called Ledger a "weirdo," kept joking about why he committed suicide (police say there's no evidence he did). By comparison, Courtney Hazlett's comment on MSNBC that "we've almost had a dress rehearsal for this, almost, with Owen Wilson" is merely tacky.
Seriously?
Please cast your attention to the upper right hand corner of my blog. I've added a new module called Twitter (twitter.com). It's a fun, random way to broadcast what you're feeling or doing at any given moment. From their website: "Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?" If you're so inclined to sign up, make sure you join my friends circle ("follow" me).
Sigh again. Is it time to go home yet?
