Big girl furniture!

How did we spend our Memorial Day weekend? By haunting the local furniture stores! We literally went from the Room Store, to Haverty's, to Ashley Furniture, and back, so many times it made my head spin!

We needed to replace our broken "tallboy" dresser, but were having a hard time finding stuff that met my exacting taste, or in our price range. We really wanted to go check out Marlo's or (the other one in Sterling whose name escapes me right now), but as we were having it all delivered, we wanted to save on delivery fees, so we were stuck with the "big 3" in Woodbridge.

After hours of agonizing, analyzing, scrutinizing and flip-flopping, we ended up buying this set:

I haven't been this excited to get "big girl" stuff since I got my 10-speed bike! (Ah, that was a good Christmas...) Our current bedroom consists of mostly what we brought with us when we moved in together - the dressers are from his mom's childhood... my dad made the bedside bookcase when I was a baby... the bed is new-ish (within the last 8 years)... and the other bedstand is some crappy plastic white cubby-hole thing I think we got a Wal-Mart to just hold our lamp.

But NOW! It will all be matching, warm cherry, ADULT "married people" furniture! I'm not a huge fan of sleigh beds, but this is a pretty basic, "classic" set, and LOADS better than some of the others we saw this weekend. (Seriously. Leopard printed leather headboards? I'll pass.)

Now if only we could paint the walls to make our bedroom look as pretty as the photo... Oh well, one dream at a time! :oD
