The End of My Marriage...

...might just be over a purse. A pink/rose purse, as a matter of fact.

This past week I was given some clothes by a friend, in an effort to jazz up my wardrobe. She tossed in a purse, as we have a running battle between us over my fierce determination to not ever own nor carry a purse that is anything less than straight black, "non-fancy", and not functional. Chains, large buckles, tiny purses need not apply.

My current purse is HUGE (but not quite diaper-bag sized) and at any given time holds 1,005 things, INCLUDING a full sized umbrella and novels. For a commute like mine, I would demand no less.

This purse failed two out of three of my criteria. It was pink ("rose"). It was small. But ah, it wasn't fancy! It was actually kinda cute. I could see myself saving it for special occasions, out with the girls, time for a change, that sort of thing. But always going back to my big old, plain black purse of the other 360 days of the year.

I head to the car with the bag o'goodies and the first thing my husband says is "nice purse". You know, in that tone of voice that makes it clear that he does NOT, in fact, think it's a nice purse. I tell him, "I think it's cute", and figure that's that.

No. For the next few nights, everytime he passed the purse, he just HAD to make a comment about it! I'm beginning to think that he doesn't like the purse or something. He keeps this up, I might just have to ask him to hold it while I take my sweet time in the ladies' room/dressing room/etc. :oP
