I don't know how to say this, so I'll come right out and say it. Hi. My name is D'Arcey, and I'm a hoarder. (And not in that disgusting "Girl, Interrupted" way.)
This weekend, as we were going through our bedroom to prepare for the new furniture, I discovered a box of "stuff" that was in the corner of the room. I vaguely knew it was from our move, and contained bath products that I hadn't gotten around to using yet, so I opened it to take a look. Inside - I am not kidding you - I had:
6 bottles of my favorite peppermint body wash from Bath and Body Works (B&BW)
4 bottles of peach body wash from Avon
5 sticks of deodorant
4-5 bottles of various perfumes
2 refill bottles of B&BW antibiotic hand soap
6-8 individual bottles of B&BW foaming hand soap
All brand new and unopened. Plus I'm sure I've blocked - er - forgotten more. When you count the fact that I also have a good 30+ boxes of various B&BW Wallflower refills in the closet, and I honestly cannot tell you HOW many candles I have (I have a closet just for my candles!)... well, it just doesn't look good.
Thankfully, my diagnosis is relatively mild. I'm no where near as bad as Wikipedia illustrates compulsive hoarding (and surely Wikipedia never lies!) This is someone with CH's living room:![]()
And isn't the first step towards recovery admitting you have a problem? If so, then I'm in good shape. I've already told Justin that I am depending on him to keep me far, far away from B&BW - enemy no. 1. (I've actually been doing pretty good avoiding that place on my own, anyway.) Also, I've had a good, stern talking to with myself. NO MORE FRIVOLOUS SCENTED PURCHASES... no matter how good they smell....
Um. Well that's embarrassing. In the spirit of full disclosure, I must confess that I went on Ebay yesterday and bought a bottle of my favorite discontinued perfume... But I BLAME THE INDUSTRY for doing away with all my favorite scents! B&BW is the biggest offender of them all - first they change the formula for Moonlight Path. Now it REEKS of baby powder - bleh! And they insist on discontinuing my favorite wallflowers like Cinnamon Vanilla to French Lavender, all the scents that make a bedroom smell heavenly. If they'd quit taking away my favorite scents, I wouldn't have to buy them in massive quantities, and then I would not have this problem!
HA! SEE?! I'm the victim in all this. :) As I was saying... I am perfectly normal and don't have a problem at all...
