So last night, in the midst of our Humanties teacher blathering on and on about God knows what, she happened to mention Eugenics and the horrible things that happen when Man starts playing God. I was tuning her out like most of the previous 4 hours, when she said something that made me perk up my ears. Mumble mumble "cross bred a rabbit with a jellyfish" mumble mumble.
WHAT? My (admittedly tired but) fertile imagination began thinking of this mucous-like rabbit, or a stinging bunny, but a bit of Googling shows us that it was in fact even cooler - a glow-in-the-dark bunny:
This is a picture of Alba, the genetically engineered albino bunny with a Green Flourescent Protein.
Alba, the green fluorescent bunny, is an albino rabbit. This means that, since she has no skin pigment, under ordinary environmental conditions she is completely white with pink eyes. Alba is not green all the time. She only glows when illuminated with the correct light. When (and only when) illuminated with blue light (maximum excitation at 488 nm), she glows with a bright green light (maximum emission at 509 nm).

I'm sure she meant to scandalize us with the revolting-ness of this travesty, and while I don't agree with Mankind's "right" to meddle like this, in reality, that's pretty freaking neat. IMHO.
